Guest Apprenticeships
For those eager to master the craft and art of blacksmithing without waiting for a spot in our Traditional Apprenticeship, the Guest Apprenticeship offers a unique, accelerated path. Modeled after a four-year college curriculum, this program provides intensive, hands-on training while maintaining the rigorous standards of classical blacksmithing education.
Program Structure & Expectations​

Duration: 4 years, identical to the Traditional Apprenticeship

Commitment: Apprentices work one full day per week, 48 weeks per year

Training Method: Learn at the same pace as traditional apprentices, performing essential, hands-on shop tasks

Stipend & Contract: Requires a one-time tuition-style stipend and a formal written contract

No Penalties for Early Exit: Unlike the Traditional Apprenticeship, Guest Apprentices may withdraw or test out early without financial penalties


Application Process – How to Become a Guest Apprentice

Interview Request: Interested candidates must schedule an interview.

Preliminary Tutoring Sessions: Before commitment, applicants take a few tutoring sessions to ensure this path aligns with their goals.

Final Selection & Enrollment: Upon acceptance, the stipend is paid, and the contract is signed. Apprentices begin their journey as an Entered Apprentice.

Completion & Certification: At the end of four years, apprentices take the Journeyworker’s Exam, with multiple attempts allowed.

Guest Apprentices earn their place in the shop just like traditional apprentices. While enrolled, you will:

Be treated as any other apprentice, following the shop hierarchy and respecting seniority
